An All-Star Night to Honor Kathleen DiChiara.

A select group of New Jersey’s finest chefs will cook together for a cause, preparing sensational selections at an upcoming gala to mark Kathleen DiChiara’s retirement as President and CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, the organization she founded 40 years ago.  What started as a one-woman mission from the back of a station wagon has now distributed more than 600 million pounds of food, and on Thursday, June 4th, hundreds of supporters will gather at CFBNJ’s  Hillside headquarters to honor Kathleen’s lifetime of help and legacy of hope.

Built as a grand residence in 1860, Washington House in Basking Ridge soon became a hotel and got through Prohibition by smuggling Jersey Lightning (applejack). Post-Prohibition, the structure soldiered on as a pub under various names and owners. Since reopening last May after a six-month gutting and renovation, the reborn Washington House has been winning converts at a fast clip.
